Blake Colbourne

PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR & COORDINATOR, INSPIRE LABRADOR

Blake Colbourne was born and raised in Goose Bay and her family stems from Rigolet and Cartwright. She is an Inuit youth, who has recently opened her own business, Holistic Haven Inc. It was never something she had planned to do, but she’s so happy she did! She didn't have a lot of business experience when she first started, she just knew that she wanted to give back to her community and have a safe space for Indigenous peoples especially youth to explore their mental health needs and concerns.

She left home for 6 years, and lived in three different places gaining her education. She has a BA in criminology and sociology and a minor in psychology. She also has an advanced diploma in youth justice intervention, and a Bachelor of Social work. She is currently in the process of attaining her Master’s.

However, she wanted to come back home and take what she’s learned and put it into practice. Her business model revolves around the idea of ‘being the place we wish we had when we were younger.’ She’s always been a huge advocate when it comes to youth, especially Indigenous youth and supporting them in finding their voice and putting themselves first in whatever capacity that looks like!

This is a new role for her and she’s excited to see where this leads! Her favourite quote is 'it only takes one positive person to have a lasting impact on another' and she truly believes that, and that is in the foreground in her work daily! Blake is looking forward to getting to know the participants, to learn from them, and to see where they go from here!
