Alyce Johnson

SENIOR ADVISER, INSPIRE YUKON

Alyce Johnson is a Kluane First Nation citizen, a Kaajèt (Crow Clan), a Southern Tutchone, and a member of the Jimmie and Emma Johnson Family. Her place-based knowledge stems from growing up as a Lù’àn Män Ku Dän (Kluane Lake people) and family in Burwash Landing, Yukon. This knowledge provided Alyce with a trail that led her into education with her early years of learning that First Nations’ teachers and Elders are professors-of-the-land. She graduated with a Bachelor and Master of Education degree from the University of British Columbia and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Trent University. She has taught at Yukon College, Trent University and the University of Northern British Columbia. Alyce was a former Curriculum Developer/Writer for the Department of Education and retired as the Principal of Kluane Lake School. She continues to teach and share her gifts of knowledge at all levels or at any opportunity presented with this adage: “Education is a trail that gathers no moss”.
