Career and Community Development (CCD) course in Nunavik
The Career and Community Development course is designed to empower young Nunavimmiut to develop integral skills while creating community outreach projects that have social, environmental and/or economic purpose.
The course was co-created with students and education experts from across Nunavik and Nunavut. The course provides students with localized resources and the tools they need to build projects that embody their vision for the future, while being rooted in local culture.
Guiding students towards their purpose
The course is designed to guide students towards their purpose by helping them connect with their individual aspirations, understand challenges, identify and create opportunity, and develop an entrepreneurial skill set that will help them achieve their goals. It does not follow a traditional model of education. Rather, it is a course that was specifically designed and developed to meet current and future needs of students in Nunavik.
Creating Sustainability
The course is began in various communities across Nunavik. Today it is in the hands of Nunavik Ice and is taught as a three year program.
