May was one of Inspire Nunavut’s brightest participants. May partnered with her mother, a renowned seamstress, to create custom sealskin fashion products with a modern edge. May was an inspiration to other Inspire participants as she was determined to give people good quality sealskin clothes through her store. Ujaraatsiap Sanaugangit is an upscale fashion boutique that sells traditional Inuit inspired women’s clothing, with a modern appeal and it is 100% Inuit Owned. The name “Ujaraatsiaq” is May’s Inuktitut name, named after her grandmother Annie Eetuk, Elizabeth’s mother. The business is owned by May Ningeongan, who has partnered with her mother Elizabeth Ningeongan to be Head Seamstress. Ujaraatsiap Sanaugangit is located in Coral Harbour, NU. All their products are sewn in Elizabeth’s home.
